contemporary music

As illustration for the course devoted to contemporary music, Here are some useful links:
I put in mind the easiest to listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKz4qVmUz84

for Philip Glass ( who composed many film scores, you might recognize his particular script)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkmNqyUSrFw&feature=PlayList&p=B94889565D4F5AA7&index=13 (very nice clip)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v = & feature = PlayList 0PgueITWj4A & p = & B94889565D4F5AA7 playNext playnext_from = 1 & & index = PL = 12
to Arvo Pärt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtFPdBUl7XQ

(where sees the composer in his search)

I then put the more experimental music of Edgard Varese -

for John Cage (4'33'')

http:/ / www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUJagb7hL0E&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSulycqZH-U&feature=related
to Boulez (work conducted by the composer himself)
http://www.youtube.com/ watch? v = HhcZM7cFy_c & feature = related for Messiaen (directed by P. Boulez)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht5qqE_e1UE&feature=related for Giacinto Scelsi

http: / / www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLs7QankGCc for Luciano Berio

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUou6M4ZNTk&feature=related
Be curious and attentive to the experimental part of this music. These are all examples of reflections on the unknown where the question of beauty is at stake: Does it exist before our investigation? in which case we only find it? or invent us according to our intelligence, our creativity, our time?
Enjoy! PS: apart from the question of class, I take this music to alert you to squib the extraordinary work of the Orquesta Juvenil Simon Bolivar de Venezuela, composed of youth from the favelas, which the government has loaned instruments and paid musical training (even the conductor comes from this system); see the result :
